ISLAMABAD - The special envoys meeting on Afghanistan on Monday began in Qatari capital Doha which is attended by several countries including Pakistan.

Pakistan delegation led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar included senior officials from the foreign ministry.

The two-day meeting will also continue on Tuesday.

In a statement, Pakistan's foreign ministry said beside attending the Meeting of Special Envoys on Afghanistan, Khar will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other participating countries.

“Chaired by the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, the meeting brings together major international and regional countries to discuss the ongoing situation in Afghanistan with a view towards constructive engagement,” its said.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs will present Pakistan’s perspective vis-à-vis Afghanistan and work on building a consensus regarding the way forward with international and regional partners, said the ministry.

The meeting is held after the recent UN Security Council resolution that condemned the ban on Afghan women working for the UN in Afghanistan and urged the Taliban to "swiftly reverse" policies and practices that restrict the fundamental freedoms of women and girls.

However, Afghan Taliban rejected the UNSC resolution and called the ban on women working as an internal issue of their country and urged that “diversity must be respected & not politicized.”
