11 dead as avalanches hit a herders camp in northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least 11 people dead and 13 others wounded when an avalanche hit a herders camp in northern Pakistan, officials said on Saturday. 

 

The incident occurred at Shounter top of district Astore where at the time of the incident, 25 people of Gujjar family with cattle’s, who were enrooted from Kashmir to Astore, came under the way and got hit by the Avalanche, said the disaster authority of Gilgit Baltistan government, 

 

 

“As per reports 11 people are died and 13 got injured. Response while So far 8 death bodies have been recovered by Rescue 1122, District Administration and local community, search of remaining death bodies are in progress,” it said.

 

While, 13 injured people, who were evacuated, were moved to DHQ Hospital Astore where most of them are in critical condition.

 

Pakistan Army provided Helli Service, relief items and para-medical staff, however, official said that it could not fly to the site due to bad weather conditions.
