Pakistan to allows 100% spectators in grounds to watch PSL cricket matches

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistani authorities have decided to allow 100% spectators to watch the Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket matches after Feb. 16, sources said.

Currently only 50% spectators are allowed as per capacity of the grounds because of COVID-19 restrictions. 

 

The decision has taken in the country NCOC meeting that was chaired by the Federal Minister Asad Umar, who is leading the COVID-19 response program.

 

"It was decided that vaccination would be mandatory for spectators to enter the stadium but children under the age of 12 would be allowed to enter the stadium without being vaccinated," an official told the South Asia Times.

 

The  NCOC has also decided that the rapid test for domestic passengers arriving at Pakistani airports will be phased out from February 8, but the test will be for those deported from abroad and non-vaccinated at land border terminals Will continue.

 

During the past 24 hours the country reported 3,338 cases, bringing the total caseload to 1.46 million, according to the health ministry. 

 

The new cases now declined from earlier over 8,000 which was reported on Jan 27, after the new wave. 

 

With 38 more fatalities the country death toll also raised to 29,516.

 

Pakistan so far administered single dose to over 110 million people  while over 86 million people of over 220 million population have had fully vaccinated.
