Russia, Ukraine reopen humanitarian corridor in Mariupol

MOSCOW (TSAT) - Russia and Ukraine forces on Sunday morning agreed to reopen the humanitarian corridor in Mariupol and Volnovakha to allow the safe exit of civilians.

Deputy Head of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Eduard Basurin said that the corridor opens and they hope Ukrainian will allow the civilians' safe exit, TASS news agency reported.

"We still hope that those Ukrainian commanders who are in charge of defending populated localities will command their subordinates to unblock the exit from the populated localities so that civilians would be able to leave these populated localities," the agency quoted him as saying.

The two sides announced on Friday to open a humanitarian corridor in Mariupol and Volnovakha on Saturday, however, after opening in the morning, the corridor closed an hour after both forces accused each other of violation of the agreement.

Russia and Ukraine delegation also expected to meet on Monday in Belarus for the third round of peace talks.
