Pakistan Urges Immediate Ceasefire, Full UN Membership for Palestine at High-Level UN Conference

By The South Asia Times

New York— Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar strongly condemned Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza and called for urgent international action during a high-level UN conference on Palestine held in New York.

Speaking at the International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, Dar described Gaza as “a graveyard of international law and humanitarian principles,” citing the deaths of over 58,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

He urged the global community to implement an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire, ensure unhindered humanitarian access, support UNRWA, and hold perpetrators of war crimes accountable. Dar also stressed the need to reinvigorate the political process toward a two-state solution, including full UN membership and recognition of Palestine.

The Foreign Minister welcomed France’s recent recognition of the State of Palestine and encouraged others to follow suit. He affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to provide technical assistance and support the Arab-OIC peace plan.

“This occupation must end, and it must end now,” Dar declared, calling the Palestine question a “moral imperative” and a test of the international community’s resolve.
