Dar Meets Pakistani-American Community in New York, Highlights Economic Gains and Diplomatic Reengagement

New York — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday addressed a gathering of prominent Pakistani-Americans in New York, acknowledging their vital contributions to both Pakistan and the United States and reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to deeper engagement with the diaspora.

Speaking at the event, Dar praised the role of Pakistani-Americans in strengthening Pakistan-U.S. ties and promoting Pakistan’s global image. He thanked the community for its support during times of regional tension, especially in advocating for the rights of Kashmiris.

Dar highlighted Pakistan’s recent economic recovery, citing the successful completion of the IMF program, a decline in inflation, and increased investor confidence. He said global credit agencies had upgraded Pakistan’s economic outlook and reiterated the government’s ambition to place Pakistan among the world’s top 20 economies.

The foreign minister also noted Pakistan’s return to proactive diplomacy, including its recent election to the UN Security Council with 182 votes. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful resolution of disputes, including Kashmir and Palestine.

On regional matters, Dar emphasized engagement with Afghanistan on counterterrorism and connectivity, and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to national sovereignty, recalling the response during Operation Bunyan al-Marsous. He also promised progress on restoring PIA flights to Europe and the UK.

Dar urged the diaspora to invest in Pakistan’s future through the Special Investment Facilitation Council and contribute to national development in key sectors.
