Pakistan gives presidential-level security to Australian cricket team

By Zahid Shah

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) Pakistan on Friday said the interior ministry has given presidential-level security to the Australian cricket team players, who are currently on the South Asian country tour.

Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that all four remaining matches of Pakistan-Australia have been shifted to Lahore.

“Due to the current political situation in Islamabad, we have decided to shift all four matches to Lahore,” the interior minister said.

He added that foolproof security has already been provided to the visiting team.

“Pakistani people and government are really grateful and thankful to the Australian team who came to Pakistan,” Rashid added.

Talking about the current political situation, Rashid added that the interior ministry has sent a summary to Prime Minister Imran Khan to impose governor rule in Sindh province.

“We have sent the summary but so far no decision has been taken by the Imran Khan,” he told reporters.

Rashid warned that those MPs who are selling their conscience would face a tough reaction from the public of their constituencies.

The political crisis emerged last week in the South Asian Muslim country following opposition parties submitted a no-trust motion against Prime Minister Khan in parliament to topple his government.
