Lakki Marwat steps into a new era of digital transformation

By The South Asia Times

LAKKI MARWAT - Once reliant on time-worn registers and fading ink, Lakki Marwat has now embarked on a historic digital transformation — an initiative designed to bring transparency, efficiency, and order to district governance under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Hameedullah Khan.

Chairing a meeting in the Jirga Hall attended by the heads of all line departments, the Deputy Commissioner formally launched the district-wide employee digitization initiative, a comprehensive effort to preserve and compile the complete service record of every government employee in a centralized digital database.

The system will document each employee’s professional journey — from initial appointment to present posting — ensuring that every contribution is recorded, recognized, and easily accessible.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Hameedullah Khan said the digitization drive forms part of the broader governance reforms being introduced in Lakki Marwat. The initiative will pave the way for further improvements such as biometric attendance, real-time performance monitoring, and the elimination of ghost employees — measures aimed at ensuring integrity and accuracy within all line departments.

Aligned with the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary’s “Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Vision,” the initiative reflects the district administration’s resolve to replace outdated manual systems with data-driven management tools. Through this transition, the district seeks not only to enhance administrative efficiency but also to restore confidence in public service by making systems transparent and responsive.

The newly designed digital form (Performa) will capture essential details including current postings, designations, qualifications, service histories, promotions, and special achievements. Once operational, the system will ensure that employee information is accurate, organized, and available at a click — eliminating delays and enhancing coordination between departments.

Officials noted that what once took days of searching through files will now take seconds — a symbolic yet powerful step toward a more efficient administration.

In the next phase, the district administration will also begin digital documentation of all public assets — including government buildings, vehicles, machinery, and facilities — to make every resource traceable, auditable, and transparent.

These reforms, collectively, mark Lakki Marwat’s transition from a paper-based past to a data-driven future. What was once an administrative necessity has now evolved into a statement of intent — a promise to embrace change and modernize governance for the people it serves.

The district’s reform agenda has also extended beyond digitization. Recent initiatives include real-time geo-mapping of health staff, improved field monitoring, and a renewed focus on accessibility through open courts (Khuli Kachehris) held in previously underserved localities such as Kheru Khel, Sheri Khel, and Pahar Khel Pakka.

In the education sector, the reopening of Government Girls High School Dallo Khel after eight years has become a symbol of renewed hope, with 281 students once again entering classrooms that had long been silent.

From fragile registers to dynamic databases, and from forgotten villages to active governance, Lakki Marwat stands at the threshold of transformation — a district redefining its administrative future through technology, dedication, and vision.
