Indian govt, army faces huge criticism after China strengthen its muscles at Ladakh

NEW DELHI (TSAT) - The Indian government and army came under huge criticism after the local media published the latest satellite images of disputed Ladakh region, showed Chinese army took over most areas near Pangong Lake.

The latest satellite image published by Indian NDTV, took on Jan. 16, showed that Chinese army constructed 400 meters long bridge over the Pangong Lake Eastern Ladakh despite heavy snowfall and cold weather in the region.

The broadcaster claimed that Chinese army has secured the area and the new building of bridge will give them significant edge over Indian army.

 

The news has put the Modi’s led BJP Hindu nationalist government and Indian army in pressure as people across the country started criticising against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for pushing its army into trouble some situation in Ladakh.

 

“Shame on a prime minister who keeps his focus on winning elections totally neglecting what happens on the border!! Indian land is under threat every minute and he is busy electioneering,” Yuvraj Singh, one of Indian citizen reacted on Twitter.

However, the ruling BJP party, supporters while defending its premier said China has built the bridge in their own territory and rejected social media users criticism against PM Modi.

 

“Is the bridge being built on the Indian side or the Chinese occupied area of Pangong lake. FYI this area is under Chinese occupation way before 2014,” Narendra Singh posted on Twitter.

 

Earlier, the Indian media also reported the same news which the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman rejected and said that China’s infrastructure construction on its territory is entirely falls within its sovereignty.

 

In 2020, tension between Beijing and New Delhi escalated after a face-off between the two armies in which at least 20 Indian soldier including a senior officer killed at the Line of Actual Control , a de facto border line between the two nations in the Ladakh region of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region.

 

Since then a series of meeting has been conducted between the two countries at civil and military level without any significant success.

 

Last week, the Indian army chief admitted that last year 2021 remain tense for India because of tension with China and Pakistan.

 

"War or conflict is always an instrument of last resort. But if resorted to, we will come out victorious," Anadolu Agency quoted Gen. Manoj Mukund Naravane as saying at a virtual press conference ahead of India's Army Day

 

 

Reacted to Indian army chief statement, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman urged Naravane to "refrain from unconstructive remarks."

 

"China and India are working through diplomatic and military channels to ease border tension. We hope individual personnel from India will refrain from making unconstructive remarks," Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry, told a news conference in Beijing.
