ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militia targeting civilian and economic sites in several Saudi Arabian cities, calling them a threat to regional peace and stability.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the attacks targeted Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry said the attacks also undermined international efforts to secure a peaceful and lasting resolution to the conflict in Yemen.

“Pakistan reiterates its unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Islamabad expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia’s leadership, government and people and conveyed its wishes for the swift recovery of those injured in the attacks.

Pakistan also said Saudi Arabia has a legitimate right under the U.N. Charter and international law to take necessary measures to defend its territory, protect citizens and residents, and safeguard national assets against threats.

The statement comes amid continued regional tensions involving Yemen’s Houthi terrorist and its attacks on targets in and around the Arabian Peninsula.

Pakistan said it would continue efforts aimed at promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
