China criticizes US tariffs, warns against Middle East escalation

By The South Asia Times

BEIJING - China on Tuesday urged the United States to roll back unilateral tariff measures and refrain from imposing new ones, as tensions between the two countries continued across trade, security, and technology fronts.

The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China said Beijing “consistently opposes all forms of unilateral tariff measures” and called on Washington to revoke existing duties.

Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed reports that the United States is considering a “limited attack” on Iran ahead of nuclear talks. “We urge all parties to exercise restraint and resolve differences through dialogue,” Mao said, warning that further escalation in the Middle East “is not in the interests of any party.”

Mao also confirmed that Chinese forces tracked and monitored recent US military aircraft activity over the Yellow Sea, saying the situation was handled “in accordance with laws and regulations.”

Meanwhile, Chinese drone manufacturer DJI has filed an appeal with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit challenging a decision by the Federal Communications Commission to place the company on its “covered list.” DJI argues the move lacked substantive evidence and violated due process.

The developments underscore deepening friction between Beijing and Washington across multiple domains.
