Russia earns over $97 billion from fuel exports in first 100 days of Ukraine war

By The South Asia Times report

BRUSSILES: Russia has earned over $97 billion from fossil fuel exports during the last three months.

In a recent report from the independent Finland-based Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) said that Moscow earned earned EUR 93 billion (over $97 billion) in revenue from fossil fuel exports in the first 100 days of the war (February 24 to June 3).

The EU remained the highest importer as they imported 61% of this, worth approximately 57 billion EUR.

Oil helped Russia to derail all planning of the US and its allies who wanted to severely hit Russia's financial lifeline. But the latest report shows that the US and its allies failed.

According to the report, during last 100 days the largest importers were China (EUR12.6bln), Germany (EUR12.1bln), Italy (EUR7.8bln), Netherlands (EUR7.8bln), Turkey (EUR6.7bln), Poland (EUR4.4bln), France (EUR4.3bln) and India (EUR3.4bln).

The US failed to pressure India and New Delhi rejected all requests from President Biden, Japanese Prime Minister, and former Australian premier Scott Morrison to join them against Russia.

Analysts believed that Biden felt hesitant to take action against India as Washington want to use New Delhi against China.
