Pakistan former PM announces long march toward capital Islamabad on May 25

By Shahabullah Khan

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced his long march toward the capital Islamabad on May 25, to topple the new government in the country.

“I want our entire nation to come to Islamabad, on Srinagar Highway for the Haqiqi Azadi March on 25th May where I will meet you at 3 pm. I will be leading the March from KP InshaAllah,” Khan tweeted.

Earlier addressing a news conference in Peshawar after chairing a meeting of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf top leaders meeting, Khan said his party decided to hold the long march on May 25.

“I will meet you in Islamabad at Srinagar Highway at 3:00 pm on May 25. I want to see people from all walks of life in the Islamabad long march on May 25,” Khan said while broadcasting his news conference by ARY News.

He added that millions of people will hold a sit-in in Islamabad until to dissolve the assemblies and announce a date for a fresh election.

“We also want free and fair elections,” Khan said.

He called his long march as “real independence” of the country from US interference and accused Washington of bringing its puppet ruler to posting in Islamabad.

“In our politics, this is the jihad for our real independence. We will take legal action if hurdles are created for the peaceful long march. I will wait for you at Srinagar Highway on May 25,” Khan said.

He urged the bureaucracy, police, and armed forces to stay away from creating hurdles in his march and invited their families to j

He criticized the US for hatched conspiracy against his elected government and ousted him from power last month.

“A conspiracy was hatched in the United States (US) against the PTI government for regime change. The US-sponsored conspiracy was backed by the corrupt people of our country. The conspiracy had been started eight months ago and was unearthed in June 2021.”

“We had tried our best to foil the regime change conspiracy but unfortunately, we failed to thwart it. On March 7, a threat was given to Pakistan and the US knew everything about the next rulers,” Khan explained.

He warned that government will create hurdles to shut down internet service, and create a petroleum shortage but asked his supporters to prepare and reach the capital on said date.

Analysts believed that if the government use force to stop the march it could push the country toward a new crisis as most of Khan’s supporters are young and sentimental.
