ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday said that his country wants good relations with China, the US, Russia, and other countries.

Speaking at the Islamabad Security Dialogue, Gen Bajwa said Pakistan enjoys close and strategic cooperation with China and the multi-billion Pakistan China economic corridor (CPEC) is its big example.

“Pakistan does not believe in camp politics and seeks to expand and broaden its ties with both China and the US,” he said.

He added that equally, Pakistan shares a long history of excellent and strategic relationships with the US which remains their largest export market.

“Pakistan continues to believe in using diplomacy and dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues with India including the Kashmir dispute. Pakistan is ready to move forward on this front, if India also agrees to do so,” he said.

Talking about the recent Indian supersonic cruise missile landing inside Pakistan territory, the country's military chief expressed deep concerns over the incident and said this incident has raised serious questions about India's ability to manage and operate high-end weapon systems.

“Pakistan has called for a thorough probe into the incident and we expect India to provide evidence to ensure Pakistan and the world community that their weapons are safe and secured,” said Gen. Bajwa.

Army Chief said Pakistan continues to work closely with the International community to pursue peace and stability in Afghanistan.

“It is our collective responsibility towards the Afghan people to ensure timely and adequate humanitarian aid flows into the country,” he said and warned that the consequences of our inability to address the humanitarian crisis will lead to refugee crisis and will again make Afghanistan an epicenter of terrorism.

He reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and said his country has made remarkable gains against terrorism which have resulted in marked improvement in the internal security situation of Pakistan.

“However, the threat of terrorism and violent extremism remains and our struggle will continue till we eliminate the last terrorist and the cause of terrorism from the region.”

Gen. Bajwa called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and said Pakistan is doing everything it can to resolve the issue.

"We support immediate dialogue between all sides to find a lasting solution to the conflict. Pakistan has also dispatched humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through special fights of Pakistan Air Force and will continue to do so," he concluded.
