Sikhs political leaders gathered in Indian Punjab vowed to get rid from RSS

By The South Asia Times report

PUNJAB, India: Sikhs leaders in Indian Punjab expressed deep concern over growing attacks against Sikh youth and leaders in India and urged their community to gather and get freedom from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

RSS is an Indian right-wing, Hindu extremist organization that gives birth to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), currently ruling in India since 2014.

Sikh leader's meeting was held at the residence of Simranjit Singh Mann, Khalistani leader and chief of Shiromani Akali Dal, a political party in Punjab.

The meeting was held at the occasion of 29th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, when the Indian troops killed dozen Sikhs in 1984.

“On June 5, the siege of the common ground of humanity began with tanks. The army opened fire. This manzar was deceiving the hearts of Sikhs, the pain of that time still touches the heart. All this can never be forgotten in the minds of the Sikh Panth. #OperationBlueStar," Shiromani Akali Dal tweeted.

The meeting also discussed the growing attacks against Sikh leaders and Youth and said the Indian RSS government targeting those Sikhs who are raising voices for their community.

“Civil society is living in fear of gangsters even as extortions, murders, dacoities & targeted killings are occurring on daily basis,” said the Sikh leaders in a joint statement.

“SAD Core Committee, presided over by S Sukhbir Singh Badal, pays tributes to Punjab icon Shubhpreet Singh #SidhuMoosewala. Expresses deep shock & dismay over wanton and callous handling of security issues,” its added.

Sidhu Moose Wala, who was killed last month by unknown gunmen in Punjab, was a prominent singer and politician.

The Sikh leaders accused the Indian notorious spy agency, RAW, is behind the ongoing targeting killings of Sikhs leaders and youth in Punjab and other parts of the country.

The leaders decided that all Sikh parties will join hands against the ongoing operation launched by RAW and will continue the peaceful struggle to get freedom from India.

They also demanded to immediately release all those Sikhs who are languishing and torturing in jails for the last 30 years.
