ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - The Indian government has rejected a request from Pakistan flag carrier to allow landing at old city Jaipur.

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state and known is the old city in the country.

According to Pakistani media, Pakistan International Airline sought permission to bring Hindu pilgrims who wished to visit their religious sites.

The special flight was arranged on the request of the Pakistan Hindu Council to take its 160 Hindu pilgrims on Saturday.

“The flight had to land at Jaipur airport at 12:00 noon on Saturday, but Indian government didn’t given the permission,” The Nation a local daily quoted PIA official as saying.

However, the Pakistan Hindu Council patron-in-chief Dr. Ramesh Vankwani said that the trip has been postponed for few days due to some clearance process.

“Clarification of rumors regarding the cancellation of Faith Tourism trip. This initiative is highly welcomed by both Pak/Indian Governments.Trip is postpned for few days due to some clearance process from Indian Government which is in progress & due to the prevalence of  COVID-19,” he tweeted.

Since August 2019, the two South Asian nuclear neighbours diplomatic ties are very tensed following India unilaterally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two union territory.
