“Prime Time debates in India have become a platform to encourage hate mongers to speak ill about other religions. @TimesNow's Anchor @navikakumar is encouraging a rabid communal hatemonger & a BJP Spokesperson to speak rubbish which can incite riots. Shame on you @vineetjaintimes," Muhammed Zubir co-founder of Alt News wrote on Twitter

He added that the controversial Indian TV anchor Navika Kumar, she is also Group Editor of the Times Network, doing shows on controversial court verdicts on historical centuries-old Gyanvapi Mosque in Uttar Pradesh.

“This  has been doing multiple shows from a week claiming 'It's a Shivling'. But when someone says it's a fountain, her sentiments are hurt. Says, 'If it can't be identified as Shivling, It can't be called as Fountain as well', She can run a hashtag claiming it to be a Shivling,” Zubir said.

On May 17, a local court in Varanasi court ruled to seal the main portion of Gyanvapi Mosque, which had been built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1669, after lawyers representing Hindu extremists claimed a Shivling, a relic of Hindu the god Shiva, was found in the mosque’s ablution water tank.

Later the Indian supreme court overturned the lower court verdict to ban Muslims from mass prayer in a historical centuries-old Gyanvapi Mosque in Uttar Pradesh.

In short order, the apex court ordered that Muslim prayers at the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi should not be disturbed, while the area where Hindu religious relics were said to be found should be protected.

BJP and other Hindu nationalist journalists in India criticized the top court verdict to overturn the local court verdict and pushed BJP's anti-Muslim agenda to demolish historical mosques and claim it was built on Hindu temples.

“As somebody who grew up witnessing two of the worst anti-muslim pogroms in India, I think as a journalist and as a muslim, I have NEVER witnessed this level of brazen, televised hate. This lady is the national spokesperson of Narendra Modi’s BJP,” Rana added.

BJP another spokesman Gaurav Bhatia warned Muslims that they would send them behind the bar if they reacted against Sharma derogatory remarks.
