By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s legal team has accused some judges of wanting to sentence Khan haphazardly while violating legal procedures.

Speaking to a news conference, Khan’s party lawyers Shoaib Shaheen, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Naeem Panjuthaa expressed no confidence in Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq and local judge Hamayun Dilawar and said they are “biased”.

“"This will also be the first time in the history of Pakistan that the trial of an accused is going to be held during the judicial holidays, as Judge Humayun Dilawar wants to complete the trial in any case with the blessing of the powerful circles and Atta Tarar [prime minister advisor] is actively involved in this struggle,” Shaheen said.

He accused the Chief Justice Islamabad High Court is also involved along with the lower judiciary to halt the delivery of justice.

Khan’s lawyers earlier also accused Judge Dilawar of posting ridiculous posts on Facebook against Imran Khan which he denied.

The Facebook post issue has later sent by Islamabad High Court to the Federal Investigation Agency to check the authenticity of the judge's social media account.

The local judges in Islamabad went on annual holiday from August 1st but Judge Hamayun Dilawar still working as a duty judge till August 5.

“Important news, Imran Khan's trial is less likely to stop immediately during the summer vacation. The duty roster of Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, who hearing the Tosha Khana case, has also been released. He will be present as a duty judge from August 1 to August 5. , his name was not included as duty judge in the previous duty roster,” Islamabad-based journalist Saqib Bashir tweeted.

Khan’s legal team questioned over the changes in the roster and said how they included Judge Dilawar in the duty roster later.

"If there are doubts about the bias of the judge and he still hears the case, it is our duty to tell the public the facts. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq on May 9 declared the mocking and illegal arrest of the former Prime Minister from inside the court premises as legal and correct and still injustice is continued" - Khan’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat said.

Marwat was referring to the Islamabad High Court verdict on May 9, after the arrest of Khan by paramilitary forces, in which Chief Justice Aamir Farooq termed his arrest as legal.

On May 11, the Supreme Court of Pakistan turned down the high court verdict and ruled that Khan's dramatic arrest was illegal and ordered authorities to immediately release him.

Khan's supporters claim that government wants to sentence him through court and disqualify him from upcoming elections before the end of the government tenure as the National Assembly's five-year term is going to be completed on August 12.

According to the country's constitution, the elections will be held within 60 days if the National Assembly completed its tenure and analysts believed that if Khan was not disqualified by the court, he can easily win the upcoming elections in the South Asian country.
