BEIJING (TSAT) - The Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries on Tuesday arrived in China for the third meeting of top diplomats to discuss joint future strategy.

The two-day meeting will start in eastern Chinese Tunxi, Anhui province on Wednesday and will attend by the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.

The Foreign Ministers of Indonesia and Qatar were also invited to participate as special guests in the meeting, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“The Afghan situation is now in a critical transition from chaos to order, with the Afghan people still facing multiple challenges from within and outside that need to be addressed with more support and help from others,” said Wang Wenbin, the ministry spokesman.

China, Pakistan, Russia, and the US Special Representative for Afghanistan also arrived in Anhui where they will meet at the sideline of the meeting.

“China looks forward to pooling more consensus on the Afghan issue from neighboring countries, discussing ways to jointly stabilize the Afghan situation and support and help the Afghan people, and share our voice with the rest of the international community as neighbors of Afghanistan,” said Wang.

Last week, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also visited Kabul for the first time since  the Taliban took over the country’s capital in August last year after 20 year long war with US.

During his stay in Kabul, Wang Yi met with top Taliban officials and discuss bilateral relations between Beijing and Kabul.

“We hope to further understand the Afghan people’s difficulties and needs, convey neighboring countries’ concerns on the Afghan issue, and work on the Afghan side to build an open and inclusive political structure, follow moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies and earnestly combat terrorism,” said the ministry spokesman.

“In the meantime, we also expect the international community to give greater support to Afghanistan and call on the US to shoulder the primary responsibility for Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction in real earnest,” he added.

Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi along with his delegation also arrived in China.

Qureshi will meet with his Chinese and Russian counterparts and discuss the Ukraine situation at the sideline of the Foreign Ministers summit.

According to Qureshi, he will also offer mediation between Russia and Ukraine on behalf of OIC countries to end the ongoing conflict in the region.

While he will also attend the China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan Foreign Minister joint meeting at the sideline.
