KABUL (TSAT) - Several students have been killed and wounded in three explosions in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul when terrorists targeted a school in the western part of the city, officials said.

“Based on first data, 6 of our compatriots have martyred and 11 others were injured in a series of explosions that occurred this morning at the entrance gate of Shahid Abdul Rahim High School in District 5,” state-run Bakhtar News Agency quoted Khalid Zadran, spokesman of Kabul Police chief as saying.

However, the locals said the casualties numbers could be more as the second explosion took place when students were leaving the school premises in panic after first blast.

“A father lost his three sons - all his three sons - in today's bombing that targeted a boys' school in Kabul's Shia-dominated Dasht e Barchi neighborhood,” Zafar Mehdi, a journalist wrote on Twitter.

Photos and videos shared by local people on social media show dozens of students with bloody clothes were evacuating by the locals people and  officials from the spot.

“At least three attacks today in a populated area of west of #Kabul targeting schools/educational institutions. At least 50 ppl have been killed today in three different explosions. All the victims are students,” Hameed Habib tweeted.

However, Taliban officials so far didn’t share the exact details of casualties with the media.

The interior ministry spokesman says the investigation is underway and more details will be shared with the media soon.

Security personnel reach the scene and an investigation has been hurled to track down the perpetrators behind this brutal incident, said Zadran.

This was the first terrorist attack to targeted schools by the militants since the Taliban took over the country in mid-August last year.

Earlier, ISIS/Daesh terrorist group targeted mosques in Kabul, Kandahar, and Kunduz and killed over 100 civilians and dozens other wounded after the Taliban came into power.

However, so far no militant group claimed responsibility for the Tuesday attack.
