Azerbaijan to help out Pakistan in current energy crisis

ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan is likely to help out Pakistan in the ongoing energy crisis in the South Asian country.

 

Azerbaijan ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov on Friday met with Minister of State for Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik and discussed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. 

“Minister welcomed the investment proposals worth 100 million dollars from Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in LNG sector varying from terminal establishment to short term loans and deferred payment facility,” said in a official statement.

 

“With increasing energy needs of the country, such investment and partnership is a tremendous opportunity,” it's further said. 

They also discussed the partnership in oil and gas sector to enhance to other sectors like tourism. 

 

“Azerbaijan wishes to transform brotherly relations into economic ties along the lines of Turkey Azerbaijan relations,” according to the statement.

Ambassador praised Pakistan’s unconditional support to Azerbaijan and expressed his desire to take relations to new heights. 

 

He hoped that the direct flight operation from Islamabad to Baku starting in June will boost people-to-people linkages.
