
Pakistan to sends immediate humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected areas of Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government on Wednesday announced to send immediate humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected areas of Afghanistan.
Pakistan is the first country to take the lead and dispatched humanitarian assistance to the war-torn country which was hit by a deadly earthquake last night.
According to details, Islamabad will send dozens of trucks full of tents, Tarpaulins, Blankets, and medicines.
The relief goods will be handed over to Afghan government officials at the Ghulam Khan border for onward dispatch to affected areas.
So far 1050 people were killed and over 1600 wounded in the devastating earthquake that hit the eastern Paktika and Khost provinces last night.
Earlier in the morning, the Taliban officials requested immediate assistance in the quake-hit areas.
Soon after the Taliban's request, Pakistan immediately announced to send humanitarian assistance to help the Afghan people in this difficult time.
“CJCSC [Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee] & Services Chiefs express deepest condolences over tragic loss of precious lives & damage to infrastructure due to earthquake & torrential floods in various areas of Afghanistan,” said Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director General of ISPR in his tweet.
The military leadership said that the armed forces of Pakistan are ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
