By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan and the United States discussed efforts to advance Iran-US peace talks during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and US Ambassador Natalie Baker on Thursday.

The talks focused on the evolving regional situation and preparations for a second round of diplomatic engagement in Islamabad aimed at easing tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Naqvi welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire, describing it as a positive step toward de-escalation and an opportunity to sustain dialogue. He expressed hope that Iran would respond constructively to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

He said Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, is actively engaged in facilitating a peaceful resolution and encouraging all sides to prioritize diplomacy.

Ambassador Baker commended Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and supporting dialogue between the parties, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement to achieve a lasting solution.

Both sides agreed on the need to maintain diplomatic momentum as efforts continue to secure progress in Iran-US talks and reduce tensions in the region.
