Pakistan condemns Iranian backed Houthi militia attack on UAE

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday strongly condemned the Iranian backed Houthi militia attack on civilian areas of the United Arab Emirates, in which one Pakistani citizen also lost live.

In a statement, issued from his office, said  Qureshi received a telephone call from his UAE's counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan who conveyed his condolances over the demise of a Pakistani citizen in the Monday attack.

At least three people were killed including two Indian and one Pakistani national and six others injured due to blazes caused by a possible drone attack in Abu Dhabi.

"Foreign Minister Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the heinous terrorist attack on civilian areas by Houthi militia. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured," said the foreign ministry statement.  

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan also conveyed heartfelt condolences on the demise of a Pakistani national and shared the details of the attack with Pakistani Foreign Minister.

Qureshi also thanked the UAE government for extending all-out support in early repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased Pakistani national and treatment for the injured, its said. 

Expressing solidarity with the brotherly people and Government of the UAE over the tragic incident, Foreign Minister Qureshi underlined that such acts violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the United Arab Emirates. He called for immediate cessation of such attacks, which continue to pose a grave threat to regional and international peace and security.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition forces targeted Sanaa through airstrikes in response to the latest attacks on Abu Dhabi.

"We have targeted terrorist leaders north of the capital, Sanaa," Saudi news agency SPA quoted coalition forces as saying in a statement. “In response to the threats, the operations make it necessary to continue shooting Sanaa."
