Pakistan Rejects Indian FM’s ‘Inflammatory’ Remarks, Reaffirms Defence Resolve

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly rejected and condemned recent remarks by Indian External Affairs Minister, terming them “highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible,” as tensions simmer following the May 2025 conflict between the two neighbours.

In a statement issued on Sunday in response to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mr. Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan is a responsible state and that all its institutions, including the armed forces, are pillars of national security committed to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The spokesperson said the May 2025 conflict had clearly demonstrated the professionalism and resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces in defending the motherland and its people against any Indian aggression “in a befitting, effective yet responsible manner.” He added that no amount of propaganda could distort this reality.

Pakistan also accused the Indian leadership of running a deliberate propaganda campaign to malign Pakistan’s state institutions and leadership in order to divert attention from what it described as India’s own destabilising actions in the region and alleged state-sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan.

“Such incendiary rhetoric only reflects India’s disregard for peace, stability and good neighbourly relations in South Asia,” the statement said.

Responding directly to the Indian foreign minister’s comments about Pakistan’s armed forces, the Foreign Office urged New Delhi to instead examine what it described as the rise of a “fascist and revisionist Hindutva ideology” in India. The spokesperson alleged that this ideology had resulted in mob violence, lynchings, arbitrary detentions and the demolition of properties and places of worship.

“The Indian state and leadership have become hostage to terror in the name of religion,” the statement added.

Reiterating Pakistan’s foreign policy approach, the Foreign Office said Islamabad believes in peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes. However, it stressed that the nation remains united and fully resolute in its intent and ability to safeguard its interests and sovereignty.

The Indian External Affairs Minister, in his recent remarks, had made sharp comments about Pakistan’s internal institutions and regional role, prompting the strong response from Islamabad.
