NEW DELHI — An Indian court on Monday has issued a controversial verdict and ordered the authorities  to seal the ablution area of the historical Gyanvapi Mosque in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Varanasi court in its verdict directed  the local administration to immediately seal the place where “Shivling” is found and prohibited the entry of Muslims in said area.

The Muslims were rejected the court verdict and said it's part of RSS/BJP's ongoing policy to close the Mosques and other places of Muslims.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Singh (RSS) is a prominent Hindu supremacist organization which gave birth to the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was an active member of the RSS.

The court was informed that there is no reality in extremist Hindu claim that any Shivling has recovered from the said place but that was a part of a stone fountain in the ablution tank of the mosque.

However, the judges, refused to hear the Muslim lawyers and ordered in favour of Hindus nationalists who wanted to close the historical mosque through court order.

Caretaker of the mosque. SM Yasin, fights 22 cases to protect the centuries-old mosque, a target of Hindu nationalist groups after Babri. In March, he spoke to Maktoob, a local media outlet, asserting that he will not let it become another Babri.

The UP state is ruling by hardcore RSS/BJP leader Yogi Adityanath, who already banned loudspeakers in the mosques in his state.

Indian Muslim leader,  Asaduddin Owaisi, while reacting on the court verdict said that leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), compared Monday’s Gyanvapi Mosque verdict to “a textbook repeat of December 1949 in Babri Masjid.”

When Babri Masjid judgement had come out, I’d expressed my apprehension that it will be used to make claims on other masjids. Today, this apprehension has turned out to be true. This clip is to remind the 6/9 PM Nationalists & those were lecturing us about closure & moving on,” Awaisi tweeted.

“This is a textbook repeat of December 1949 in Babri Masjid. This order itself changes the religious nature of the masjid. This is a violation of 1991 Act. This was my apprehension and it has come true. Gyanvapi Masjid was & will remain a masjid till judgement day inshallah,” he added.

Anjuman Masjid Committee, a Muslim organization to protect mosques in Hindu majority country has now challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court of India and it's expected that the court will hear it tomorrow.

In 2019, the Indian Supreme Court  handed over the site of the historic Babri mosque to Hindus for building of Ram Mandir to the very Hindu parties which had demolished the historic mosque.

RSS/BJP extremists had demolishing the centuries-old Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992, and 28 year later in 2020, a special court in India acquitted all the 32 surviving accused in the the criminal case related to the Babri Mosque demolition.
