India's BrahMos missile a fool's errand, Philippines likely to cancel its deal with New Delhi following missile continuous failure

India's BrahMos missile a fool's errand, Philippines likely to cancel its deal with New Delhi following missile continuous failure

By Shahid Shah

A BrahMos cruise missile was launched for a test and due to some malfunctioning it invaded into the Pakistani territory and crashed, putting hundreds of lives in danger on ground and on civilian flights, violating international border, and almost creating a scenario for a nuclear fall out was all a mere mistake according to the Indian authorities. This was a last extreme of irresponsible behaviour by a nuclear armed nation. How on earth can a state that claims to be the biggest democracy of the world and nuclear armed be so casual in it's affairs?

Having a flawed human resource and pathetic technology is one thing, It can be improved if Indians try to work hard on it but a belligerent mind-set and warmongering attitude is a permanent feature. Extremism, saffronization, and malicious campaigns are part of Kautilyan doctrines ingrained in the strategies of Indian establishment.

The current episode of Indian BrahMos cruise missile fail is not a normal issue that can be ignored. There are some technical aspects to the incidents that must be discussed, the incident overall has international relevance. Missile batteries and Command Centres follow a long sequence with signed fire control order including readying, loading, arming, and firing with fire by order. This is a lie unless someone had across or bypassed the supposedly fail-safe systems. What if Pakistan had retaliated after intercepting the missile?

Considering the ongoing Russia-Ukraine Conflict when the world is seeking a peaceful environment to avoid any nuclear confrontation India is all up to play with fire. Pakistan should have been informed if the missile failed to keep it's course. MTCR to which India is a signatory binds it to not conduct such misadventures. India must put its house in order and also keep a hold on the proliferation of its nuclear technology. Although Indians have expressed regret on the incident but you cannot fire a missile at Mach 2.5 with more than 100km travel distance inside the territory of your adversary that is nuclear armed and then simply show regret.

Another interesting fact in this regard is that India has been so cruel to sell these failed laughable missiles in a $375 million deal to Philippines. [India signed its first defense export deal with Philippine in January this year to sell this failed missile to Manila] .A country that is in dispute with a world power, China. This is not the first time the BrahMos failed in its launch. Last year in July a similar incident took place in which the missile couldn't cover even 50km and failed to deliver. How can a mature state would come forward and buy these missile that upon failure could damage your own infrastructure and human lives.

This incident must be investigated by IAEA considering its potential to initiate a nuclear war. Indian nuclear sites must be regulated by professionals from IAEA. The international community must speak before its too late. Not only regional but international peace would be at stake in case of any nuclear confrontation. India must be held responsible for its pugnacious attitude and must be stopped.
