New Delhi, India – The political landscape in India is facing unprecedented turmoil as student-led protests, which have already forced the resignation of the Education Minister, are escalating into a direct challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

With demonstrations entering a new, more aggressive phase, student leaders and political activists are now calling for the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of orchestrating a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters.

The protests, spearheaded by the youth-led "Cockroach Janta Party" (CJP), have surged in recent weeks, mobilizing millions of young Indians frustrated by exam paper leaks and systemic failures. The movement has successfully brought about the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan but is now setting its sights on higher targets.

Student leader Neha has emerged as a prominent voice of the movement, leveling grave accusations against Home Minister Amit Shah. In a powerful statement, she declared that "the chronicle of violence at @AmitShah's orders has been written on the bodies of students." She warned of a reckoning, vowing that the government would be held "accountable for every pellet injury and gunshot wound."

Broadening the movement's objective, Neha stated, "For every student you hospitalised a hundred more will carry forward the vision of an equitable, democratic India." This statement indicates a strategic shift, transforming the single-issue protest into a broader battle against what the movement perceives as an increasingly authoritarian style of governance.

A New Political Force Rises

Adding to the government's woes, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the CJP, has issued a stark warning to Prime Minister Modi. While the CJP's immediate demand is for the resignation of Amit Shah, Mr. Dipke hinted at the movement's ultimate ambition, suggesting that the Prime Minister himself should "give up the Prime Minister's chair, become an influencer," implying that he is no longer fit to run the country and that "someone else will take care of the PM’s job."

The CJP, a satirical movement initially launched in response to a judge's comment likening young people to "cockroaches," has transformed into a formidable political force with a massive social media following, reportedly over 22 million on Instagram alone.

Analysts suggest that the CJP’s ability to mobilize youth support could fundamentally alter India's political landscape if it chooses to contest elections as a political party.

Compounding the political crisis are serious allegations of religious discrimination by the police. Student activist Neha has also accused the Bihar police of targeting individuals based on religion and caste. In a case that has sparked widespread outrage, a Muslim student named Saba was reportedly labeled a "terrorist" based on her religion.

"Bihar police is taking action by looking at religion and caste," Neha alleged. "Every student and youth of this nation stands in solidarity with Muhammad Junaid462. The movement stands united against all forms of police harassment, intimidation and violence!"

Pressure Mounts on PM Modi

According to political observers, the situation for Prime Minister Modi has changed drastically. The sheer scale of the protests and the deep-seated anger among the youth mean that "force could not push back students to home." The opposition Congress Party is attempting to align itself with the youth, but the CJP appears to be absorbing most of the momentum.

With demands escalating from the resignation of a minister to now a senior Cabinet official, analysts have noted that "after he resign next demand would be Modi resignation." The protests, once confined to educational grievances, have become a significant challenge to the stability of the Modi government, leaving the Prime Minister with limited options as the nation watches to see if the "cockroaches" will achieve their ultimate victory
