PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan from sunday

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan from May 25 to 30, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister’s multination tour aims to strengthen Pakistan’s bilateral relations with key regional partners and discuss matters of mutual interest at both regional and international levels. The visit comes at a critical time as the region navigates complex geopolitical dynamics.

During his engagements, Prime Minister Sharif will hold wide-ranging discussions with the leadership of the host countries, focusing on enhanced cooperation in areas including trade, energy, connectivity, and security. The leaders are also expected to deliberate on pressing global challenges and shared aspirations for regional peace and development.

A key aspect of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s expression of Pakistan’s “deepest appreciation and acknowledgment” for the support shown by Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India. The Foreign Office noted that this solidarity underscores the strength of Pakistan’s ties with these friendly nations.

In addition to bilateral meetings, Prime Minister Sharif will participate in the International Conference on Glaciers, scheduled to be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on May 29–30. The conference aims to address the critical issue of glacier melting in the context of climate change, a matter of significant concern for Pakistan and other countries in the region.

The visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to deepening regional partnerships and advancing dialogue on global issues, including environmental sustainability, peace, and economic cooperation.
