ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Russian Foreign Ministry criticized the US for its attempt to change the regime in Pakistan and called the Washington conspiracy an interference in the international affairs of an independent state.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that there was an attempt by the US to interfere in the internal affairs of an independent state, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

She added that the facts and reports show that the conspiracy against Imran Khan’s government was inspired and financed from abroad.

“We hope that Pakistani voters will be informed about these circumstances when they come to the elections,” APP quoted Maria as saying.

The spokesperson further said that since the official visit of Khan in February was announced some countries tried to influence and cancel the Pakistani premier's visit to Moscow.

Pakistan PM Khan on Sunday resigned and dissolved the parliament after a political crisis emerged in the country on March 8, when opposition parties submitted a no-trust motion against him to topple his government.

Khan in a huge public gathering on March 27, waved a letter and said a foreign country want regime change in Pakistan because of his visit to Russia.

Later Pakistani premier named the US behind the political crisis in his country and urged his nation to stand against Washington's conspiracy.
