Pakistan urges Spain to review its travel advisory for Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan has urged the Spanish government to review its travel advisory for Islamabad after tremendous improvement in the security of the country, state-run media said on Wednesday.

During his meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares in Madrid, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that law and order situation in his country is remarkable and now Pakistan is a peaceful country.

According to the Radio Pakistan, Qureshi urged his counterpart to review its country's travel advisory for Pakistan.

The two top diplomates also discussed bilateral relations, enhancement of trade and economic relations and agreed to further increase the ties in all sectors.

"Pakistan, being a market of 200 million people, is an attractive market for foreign investment in textile, housing, construction, pharmaceutical, renewable energy, agriculture and sports industries," Qureshi said while addressing a joint press conference with his Spanish counterpart after the meeting.

The two side also agreed to hold the the fifth round of the consultation soon during this year.
Qureshi along with his delegation is on his three-day official visit to the European country.

He also met with the country Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism María Reyes Maroto Illera and discussed the ways to further increase trade between the two countries.

"The annual bilateral trade between the two countries is more than 1.3 billion dollars which is a proof that Spain is one of the important trading partners of Pakistan," Radio Pakistan quoted Qureshi as saying.

He also invited the Spanish investors to come and invest in Pakistan as they can get benefit of investment opportunities in housing and construction, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, agriculture and sports sectors.

Discussing the Afghanistan situation, he urged the European Union to play an effective role to avert a humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country.

Regarding the situation in India Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Foreign Minister apprised his counterpart of the threats posed by Indian policies to regional peace, according to report.

He said Kashmir is a core dispute between Pakistan and India and its just resolution is inevitable for regional peace and stability.
