ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday sent another consignment of humanitarian assistance for Ukraine, an official said.

The second consignment was handed over to Ukrainian authorities at Nur Khan Base Rawalpindi near the capital Islamabad.

The ceremony was attended by Hina Rabbani Khar, State Minister for foreign affairs and Mr Markian Chuchuk, Ukrainian ambassador to Pakistan and Chairman NDMA.

The state minister handed over the aid to Ukrainian Ambassador which contains medicines, blankets, and rations.

Two C-130s airplanes will be carrying assistance to Warsaw, Poland for onward dispatch to Ukraine.

Pakistan has already provided 22.5 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine from March till May.

Speaking at ceremony Ms Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan values bilateral relations with Ukraine which are spread over three decades.

She said that the government of Pakistan had also provided humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine earlier as well.

While showing concern over the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, she said that both countries should resolve the issue through dialogue and diplomacy.

“Pakistan is ready to extend all support for an early diplomatic and negotiated resolution to the matter,” she said.

Khar added that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has far-reaching implications for International Security and the global economy.

“We are seeing its ramifications even in Pakistan, with developing countries such as Pakistan, which are hardest hit by the disruption in supply chains and the food and energy crisis that it has brought with it,” she said.

Ukrainian Ambassador thanked the government and people of Pakistan for remembering the people of Ukraine at this difficult time.

He further stated that the people of Ukraine consider this assistance as a great gesture of goodwill from the people of Pakistan.

“We consider it as a genuine manifestation of goodwill partnership and sympathy towards the Ukrainian people who are currently suffering from war,” said the ambassador.
