Pakistan summons Canadian envoy, lodges protest over MP Kmeic remarks against Army Chief

By Mashal Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Ministry summoned the Canadian High Commissioner to Islamabad and served démarche for remarks by Canadian MP Tom Kmeic.

According to officials, the High Commissioner was told that the irresponsible remarks were against diplomatic norms and condemnable.

The move came after Pakistani nation strongly condemned the pro-Indian Canadian member of parliament, Tom Kmiec, over his insulting remarks against the Army chief and demanded the government to take its notice..

Kmiec is a known supporter of anti-Pakistan elements living in Canada including suspected Indian notorious intelligence agency RAW’s agent named Tarek Fatah.

Raw agent Tarek Fateh has close links with anti Pakistan overseas forces and frequently participates in anti-Pakistan events including spaces on Twitter.

“Mr. Kmiec is a known anti-Pakistan politician in Canada and is a close friend with Indian state-affiliated anti-Pakistan propagandist Tarek Fateh. The MP also has publicly supported an independent “Sindudesh” and Baloch separatism. His hate for Pakistan is very much known and no one pays attention to what he says” said Bushra Malik, a Pakistani citizen, earlier on Tuesday.

Ms Malik demanded the government of Pakistan to lodge a strong protest with the Canadian government over the remarks made by the politician and asked the Kemiec to produce evidence of General Bajwa’s role in toppling two governments in the country otherwise he must publically apologize to the Pakistani nation on the floor of parliament for hurting their emotions and defaming the Army Chief.

Recently, Kemiec during his speech in the parliament slammed his government for approving $50,000 for the reception of Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa’s then planned visit to Canada in 2020 and accused him for the toppling of two civilian governments.

Kemiec also accused the Pakistan army of committing human right abuses, and extra judicial killings and alleged links to terror groups.
Mr. Kemiec blatant accusations have spread anger among Pakistanis who called it an insult to the country and its armed forces.

The Indian news agency, ANI, which is used by the Indian government for spreading fake news against Pakistan widely covered Kmiec anti-Pakistan speeches and his support for anti-Pakistan elements living in Canada and the US.

On Friday, ANI published Kemiec statement in which he supported the demand of the separation of Sindhu terrorist group.

“Kemiec's on the record statement on the floor of the house is a blatant interference in Pakistan affairs and it also shows his close links & support with terrorists who are killing innocent people in Sindh and Balochistan,” said Gohar Ali, a resident of Islamabad.

Ali said that Pakistan should take this matter seriously with the Canadian Government that MPs in Canada are supporting terror groups in Pakistan which is in clear violation of all international laws.
