Pakistan rejects Israeli president's statement of Pak delegation visit to Tel Aviv

By Zahid Shah

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday has rejected the Israeli President Isaac Herzog statement that recently he met with a Pakistani delegation who visited Israel.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said, the reported visit was organized by a foreign NGO which is not based in Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s position on the Palestinian issue is clear and unambiguous. There is no change whatsoever in our policy on which there is complete national consensus,” said the ministry.

“Pakistan steadfastly supports the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination. The establishment of an independent, viable and contiguous Palestinian State with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in accordance with the relevant UN and OIC resolutions, is imperative for just and lasting peace in the region.”

On May 26, the Israeli President while speaking at at the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland, said he received two delegations, one from Morocco and another one from Pakistani-Americans.

"And I must say this was an amazing experience. We haven't had a group of Pakistani leaders in Israel in such scope. And that all stems from the Abraham Accords, meaning Jews and Muslims can dwell together in the region ,” Dawn, a leading Pakistani daily quoted Herzog as saying.

Israeli President's statement bringing strong criticism against those Pakistani expats who lived in the US and represented Pakistan in a country which didn’t recognize by Islamabad.

"Another commitment made to US under regime change conspiracy by imported government and other co-conspirators fulfilled!,” Shireen Mazari, former Human Rights Minister and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf tweeted.

"Shameful subservience!" she said.

Mazari earlier this month also criticized a journalist Ahmed Qureshi who is working in Pakistan state-run TV for visiting Israel and using Pakistan's name in the Jewish country .

No Pakistani can visit on the country’s passport because Islamabad didn’t recognize Israel, however, these people apparently visited on US passport.

In February, Amnesty International said that Israel is apartheid state, committing crimes against humanity.

"The Israeli government is committing the crime against humanity of apartheid against Palestinians and must be held accountable," the organization said as it released its nearly 280-page report.

Pakistan also does not recognize Israel and, has no diplomatic relations with it.

Pakistan always stood behind Palestinian and called Israel an occupied state and committed state-sponsored terrorism against Muslims in Palestine.

"For just and lasting peace, it is imperative to have a two-state solution in accordance with relevant United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation resolutions, with the pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as capital of a viable, independent and contiguous Palestinian State," the Foreign Office had said last year.
