ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan on Saturday conducted a “successful” flight test of a ballistic missile, said the military.

"Pakistan today conducted successful flight test of Shaheen-III surface to surface ballistic missile. The test flight was aimed at revalidating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system," the military spokesman tweeted.

Shaheen-III, the surface-to-surface ballistic missile, has a range of 2,750 kilometers (1,708 miles).

This comes a day after longtime rival India tested flight of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet system which intercepting aerial threats at very long range supersonic speeds

In December, Pakistan had "successfully" test fired a new version of its indigenously developed Babur cruise missile 1B with enhanced range.

The missile -- named after Zahiruddin Mohammad Babur, the founder of Mughal dynasty in India -- has an original range of 700 kilometers (435 miles), though the range of the enhanced version was not disclosed in a statement issued by the media wing of Pakistan's army.

The ordinance is capable of striking both land and sea targets with "high accuracy," the statement said.
