ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - At least four people were killed and 26 other wounded in an explosion in Lahore, the northeastern city of Pakistan on Thursday, official said .

The explosion took place in Anarkali, the busy market of the city which is also a big shopping centre for garments.

“Initial report suggest that it was a time device fixed in motorcycle,” DIG Police Lahore told reporters.

The powerful blast damaged several shops in the area and also footages on local TV channels showed burning motorcycle and shops after the explosion.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Usman Buzdar condemned the explosion and said it was an attempt to sabotage the law and order.

“The blast near Anarkali Bazaar Lahore is a vicious act to sabotaging the atmosphere of law and order and we will deal the culprits with iron hands,” he tweeted.

Buzdar also conveyed his condolences with victims families and said he instructed the authorities to provide all health facilities to the injured in hospitals.

So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the blast but TTP, BLA, terrorist organisations, which have bases in Afghanistan, always claim responsibilities for such kind terrorist attacks in the country.

In November last year, TTP announced one month ceasefire after reports of negotiation with the Pakistani authorities, however later on Dec. 9, they ended the ceasefire and again launched targeted attacks in the country northwestern parts along with Afghanistan border.

Earlier, this month Pakistan military spokesman said that Pakistani authorities hold negotiation with TTP on the request of Afghan Taliban, however their some demands were not negotiable.

Last week, one of the TTP top commander Mufti Khalid also shot dead by unknown gunmen in the eastern Afghanistan.

in 2009, Pakistani army launched military operation against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, mother organisation of Pakistani terrorist groups  in Malakand Division and later in former tribal areas and killed thousand militants in that operations.

However, hundreds of them had fled away to Afghanistan and established their hideouts in Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Paktia and other province near Pakistan border, from where they continued to launch terrorist attacks in Pakistan, according to Pakistani officials.

During last 15 years, over 80,000 Pakistani civilians were killed and over $120 billion lost to the country’s economy because of terror attacks during so-called war against terror.
