ISLAMABAD - Following the announcement to send its Cricket Team to India for the upcoming Cricket World Cup, Pakistan on Monday said they hope its team will receive the requisites courtesies and full safety and security.

During her weekly press briefing, the foreign ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Islamabad decision to send its team to India reflects Pakistan’s consistent position that sports cannot not be mixed with politics.

“Pakistan’s constructive and responsible approach contrasts with that of India which has repeatedly politicized sports by refusing to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup or denying visas for Pakistan’s Blind Cricket Team,” she said.

However, Baloch added that Pakistan that their Cricket Team will receive the requisite courtesies and full safety and security during the visit to India.

“Our deep concerns about the security of Pakistan’s Cricket Team are being conveyed to the International Cricket Council and the Indian authorities,” she said.

The 2023 Cricket World Cup is scheduled for October and November in India. The high-voltage cricket match between Pakistan and India will be played on October 14 at a cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the hometown of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.
