ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan has categorically rejected to restore diplomatic ties with India in current environment and said India it could restore when India show responsible behaviour.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Asim Iftikhar said restoration of full diplomatic ties between the two neighbour nuclear power can be part of a process when things will be moving in a positive direction.

“At the moment, as you are aware, the current environment is not good and in our view the responsibility for that lies with India,” he told reporters during his weekly briefing.

On August 7, 2019, following India unilateral actions to revoked the special status of disputed Jammu and Kashmir region on August 5, 2019, Pakistan announced to downgrade its diplomatic ties with New Delhi and asked its envoy in Islamabad to leave the country.

Since than ties between the two countries remained tense and still the two countries have not appointed envoys in each other capitals.

“I think India needs to take certain steps and actions, as we have clearly said, to move towards an environment that would be conducive for constructive dialogue and engagement between the two countries and then we can consider how we can proceed on various issues,” Asim Iftikhar added.
