ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan accused the authorities to abducted his party's female workers and mistreating them in jail.

`”PTI women have been abducted and are being mistreated in jails, kept under inhumane conditions and subjected to severe mental torture when none were involved in the arson,” Khan tweeted.

He added that the government authorities were humiliated them while they were protesting peacefully.

Khan said they are only terrorizing and scare women from exercising their fundamental right of protest in future and also to depoliticize them.

“I am proud of the way all our women have withstood everything with such dignity and courage.”

According to Khan, over 10,000 of his party workers including arrested by the government since May 9 after a massive violent protest carried out across the country following the paramilitary force arrest Khan in Islamabad.

On Saturday, some PTI women accused the Lahore jail authorities of mishandling and naked them in the jail.

The latest allegation sparked condemnation against the jail authorities’ behavior with females and people demanding to form a judicial commission for an independent probe.

However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rejected the Khan’s claim and said his government respect human rights laws.

“I assure everyone that the culprits are being dealt with under the law & that I will ensure that no rights violations take place. Every case will be dealt with due process under the law. Pakistan fully respects & is committed to all its constitutional and international obligations on human rights,” Sharif said.

However, he remained silent over the missing people as prominent journalist Imran Riaz Khan was picked up by police on May 11 from Sialkot airport and despite the passing of 26 days, he is still missing.

Even the police authorities are not ready to present him before the court despite the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court's repeated orders.

The authorities also launched a massive crackdown against Khan’s party, PTI.

Police only release those PTI leaders who announce parting ways with Khan and leaving his party while the remaining still in jail or hiding from arrest.
