Thousands displaced by ongoing rain, heavy floods across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Thousand people were displaced by heavy rain and flood across Pakistan, officials said on Sunday.

 

Rain and flood hit all provinces of the South Asian country including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, and Gilgit Baltistan. 

 

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Balochistan, so far 127 people have died and dozens of others wounded due to rain and flood since June 1. 

 

While 22 people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during last two days. 

 

Pakistan army and FC have deployed their rescue and relifs teams in flood-hit areas to help the local administration and people to shift the affected families into safe places. 

 

“Army and FC Flood Relief activities continue in various flood-hit areas of the country. Troops are busy in rescue, relief efforts apart from providing medical care and opening up communication infrastructure,” said ISPR in a statement.

 

 

 

“Max 133 mm rain has been recorded in Mardan followed by Mohmand (85 mm). Dewatering efforts carried out in Mardan . Flash floods have been reported in local nullahs of Mohmand Distt . Southern Punjab,” according to Pakistan army.

 

 

Army team also restored the connectivity of Gandhawa in Jhal Magsi while relief activities are underway in the affected areas.

 

Army also deployed its medical teams in all affected areas to provide medical facilities to the local people.

 

 

“Ration and cooked food distributed to flood victims in all these areas,” it's said. 

 

 

Due to heavy floods roads and bridges were also destroyed in several areas where the army engineers are busy reopening the roads and repairing the bridges.
