Pakistan Army Chief confers military awards to Army personnel, martyrs’ families

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday conferred military awards to Army personnel for their acts of gallant and courage during operations and meritorious services rendered to the nation.

The investiture ceremony was held at the General Headquarters Rawalpindi which was attended by senior military officials and families of the martyred.

During the ceremony, 48 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), 7 officers, 3 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and 30 Soldiers were awarded Tamgha-i-Basalat.

Medals of Shuhada were received by their family members.

Addressing to the participants, Gen. Bajwa said that the Pakistani nation is proud of their brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect their homeland.

“If Pakistan is safe today where we are sleeping in peace, it is made possible by the sacrifices of these young men and I always say that our real heroes are these martyrs,” Gen. Bajwa said.

“As long as the world exists the name of these martyrs will be alive.”

He added that today the whole world acknowledges that Pakistan is the only country that defeated terrorism and it was made possible because of our brave nation and the sacrifices rendered by our shuhada and their families
