Ban on women working in Afghanistan - Pakistan, China, Afghanistan top diplomats to meet on weekend in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD - To discuss the barring of women from working by Taliban and the extension of multi-billion CPEC project to Kabul, top diplomats of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will meet on Saturday in Islamabad. 

According to Pakistan Foreign Ministry, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang will pay a two-day visit to Pakistan from Friday to attend the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan foreign ministers’ dialogue in Pakistan.

While Afghan Foreign Ministry also confirmed that Amir Khan Muttaqi will visit Islamabad from Saturday.

Qin is currently is India attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit of foreign ministers in Indian coastal city of Goa.

He will arrive on Friday in Islamabad on his first official visit to Pakistan from India.

Afghan foreign ministry said that Muttaqi will visit Islamabad over the weekend.

“It is planned that at the end of this week, a comprehensive political and commercial delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi will go to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan,” Hafiz Zia Ahmad, deputy spokesman of the ministry, tweeted.

 

Muttaqi-led Afghan delegation will discuss bilateral, political and commercial relations in meetings with Pakistani officials, he added.

Ahmad also confirmed Muttaqi will also participate in the sixth tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan, China and Pakistan and will also hold bilateral talks with the Chinese counterpart.

Its expected that Pakistan will raise security issues with Muttaqi as recent attacks against its forces spike in areas near Afghan border and over 300 people were killed in militant attacks in one year.

Pakistan believed that TTP terrorists hiding in Afghanistan and planning, to carry attacks against Pakistan forces and civilians. 

 

China and Pakistan's Foreign Ministers are expected to raise the issue of ban on the working of women in UN organizations by Taliban with their Afghan counterparts and conveyed international community concerns and demand to immediately reverse their decision.

 

Its also expected that the three top diplomats to discuss the extension of multi-billion CPEC projects to Afghanistan as China already announced that they will support extending CPEC to Kabul.
