Explosion rock Indian Navy war ship, kills 3 soldiers, near dozen wounded

NEW DELHI (TSAT) - An heavy explosion in the Indian Navy Ship has killed at least 3 sailor and 11 other wounded, said the local media.

“In an unfortunate incident [Tuesday] at Naval Dockyard Mumbai, three naval personnel succumbed to injuries caused by an explosion in an internal compartment on-board INS Ranvir,” the Wire quoted the Indian Navy said in a statement late Tuesday.

The Navy didn’t shared more detail about the deadly blast in the country’s Naval forces ship an important war ship and said “no major material damage” reported.

The Navy also didn’t released the video footage as analysts believed the explosion is big shock for the Indian Navy.

“INS Ranvir has two Aux Boilers, one of them exploded. MCPOs' cabin is just above the Boiler room. 3 MCPOs have lost their lives in the line of duty. 17 men are injured out of which 4 men are critical and 13 are stable,” Manan Bhatt, a veteran indian navy tweeted.

However, the Navy didn’t disclosed more details about the casualties and said injured are in stable condition.

“It was on cross-coast operational deployment from the Eastern Naval Command since November 2021 and was due to return to the base port shortly,” the Navy said.

A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the incident, the statement added.

“Adm R Hari Kumar #CNS & all personnel of #IndianNavy extend heartfelt condolences to the families of Krishan Kumar MCPO I, Surinder Kumar MCPO II & AK Singh MCPO II, who succumbed to injuries in the unfortunate incident onboard INS Ranvir.

We stand by you in this difficult times,” the Indian Navy spokesman tweeted.

In August 2013, at least 18 Indian Navy soldiers had killed when an explosions on-board INS Sindhurakshak and submarine was sink in the Mumbai harbour.
