India bows down before Afghan Taliban, first Indian delegation arrives in Kabul

By Zia Maomozai

KABUL: The Indian government finally bows down before the Taliban as a delegation led by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs arrived in Kabul to meet Taliban leaders.

In a statement, the Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed that its team has arrived in Kabul to oversee the delivery operations of India’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

“The Indian team will meet the senior members of the Taliban, and hold discussions on India’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan,” said the ministry in a statement.

The sources in Kabul say that the Indian government, who earlier called Afghan Taliban terrorists and said New Delhi will never sit with them, had requested their friendly countries to help them to send a delegation to Kabul.

Afghan Taliban told the messengers that they want good relations with all countries and welcome investment from everyone, however, will not allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s soil against their neighbors.

India in previous governments used Afghan soil against Pakistan and had close ties with TTP and BLA terrorists through former Afghan intelligence agency NDS.

However, when Taliban took over the capital Kabul in mid-August last year, the Indian intelligence agents fled away from Afghanistan.
It is worth mentioning that Indian government was first to show the most bitter reaction to Afghan Taliban’s take over in Afghanistan last year. It is only ironic and startling that a country which has been asking the world community to not accept and talk to Afghan Taliban government at all levels and platforms, its delegation is visiting Afghanistan at the moment. Visit of Indian government delegation to Afghanistan amounts to recognising the same Taliban government which it has declared as terrorists in the past.
