ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced to end his sit-in and gives a six-day deadline to the government to dissolve parliament and announce fresh elections.

Addressing his supporters in Islamabad, Khan said the government is trying to push us into a fight with our armed forces and police and they don’t want any fight with his forces.

“This imported government is unable to run the country, therefore, I give them six days time to announce fresh elections in June and if they failed I will bring two million people again to Islamabad after six days,” Khan announced.

He said this time, the government couldn’t block the roads as now the country's top court clearly ordered that peaceful protest is the right of every citizen.

“This government wants to push us into a fight with our police and army and we don’t want to fight with them, this is a conspiracy of this imported government,” Khan said. 

Clashes continued between the police and Khan’s supporters the whole night as police used force against the protestors, fired tear gas, and wounded several women and children. 

After heavy clashes, the government at midnight deployed the army in the capital to secure the President's House, Prime Minister's House, Supreme Court, and other important buildings.

“Imran Khan took the decision after consultation as last night the powerful circles also contacted Khan’s party leaders and probably give them some assurance,” Imran Riaz Khan, a senior journalist and political analyst told ARY News.

“The imported government requested the establishment to resolve this issue and now Khan is sure that elections will be announced in coming six days,” Imran Riaz added.
