Charismatic Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan ousted by opposition through no-trust motion

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan late Saturday has ousted by the opposition alliance through a no-trust motion.

 

“174 members have cast votes against the Prime Minister Imran Khan, so the no-confidence motion has been passed against Imran Khan,” Ayaz Sadiq, who was chairing the session, announced

 

Only two-vote more were received by the opposition than the required 172 votes.

 

Earlier, the former ruling party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, MPs left the house and byocott from the proceding. 

 

Its for the first time in Pakistan's history that no-trust motion successed against any prime minister in the country.  

“Today a new day is coming and this is a historical day for Pakistan,” said Shehbaz Sharif, opposition leader while addressing the parliament after the success of the no-trust motion against Khan. 

 

He thanked the opposition parties’ leaders and said his government will not take any action against opponents.

 

 

 “We want to forget the past and move toward a good future,” he said and adding justice will now prevail.

 

Earlier, the atmosphere remained very tense in the parliament since morning as the former Speaker Asad Qaiser did not allow a vote on the no-trust motion.

 

However, he resigned just 10 minutes before the deadline given by the country's top court to process the no-trust motion. 

 

Opposition leaders thanked the Supreme Court and media who supported them in the no-trust move against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

 

On Friday, Khan announced that he will not accept the “imported new government” in the country and announced a countrywide protest on Sunday. 

 

Khan accused the opposition parties to joined hands with the United States to topple his government.
