ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday announced a countrywide mass campaign after resigning from parliament.

In a series of Tweets, Khan said he will hold his first public gathering in his party stronghold in Peshawar, the provincial capital city of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where his party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inshaf is in power.

“On Wednesday I will be holding a jalsa in Peshawar after Isha - my first jalsa after being removed through a foreign- instigated regime change. I want all our people to come, as Pakistan was created as an independent, sovereign state not as a puppet state of foreign powers.” Khan said.

He added that he is demanding immediate elections as that is the only way forward to let the people decide, through fair and free elections, whom they want as their prime minister.

Earlier on Monday, Khan announced that his party has decided to resign from the National Assembly, lower house of parliament.

At least 120 of his party MPs submitted their resignations with the speaker of the parliament.

Khan’s announcement has created new political crisis as his party is single largest parlimentary group in the National Assembly.

Political analysts belived that after his party’s MPs resignation, the new government will not be able to smothly run the parliament.
