#BREAKING Mass resignation: Imran Khan party resign from parliament, push country into new crisis

By Mashal Khan

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday has announced mass resignation of his party from the parliament and said his party would not sit with the US-installed government in the National Assembly.

The announcement came just an hour ahead of the election for the new Prime Minister, where Khan nominated his former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to contest against the opposition parties nominee Shahbaz Sharif.

However, ahead of the election, Khan has asked all the members of the parliament during a parliamentary party meeting in the National Assembly to submit their resignation to the speaker and no one of us will sit in the current parliament, Fawad Chaudhry, the former information minister said.

"Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentary Committee has decided to resign from the National Assembly. Today, all members of the Assembly are submitting their resignations to the Speaker. We will fight for freedom," Chaudhry tweeted.

Khan’s party also announced a boycott of the Prime Minister election, which was scheduled for Monday noon.

On Saturday night, the country's opposition parties alliance led by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, PPP, JUI, and other small parties toppled Khan's government through a no-trust motion in the parliament.

Ahead of the no-trust motion, the major opposition parties broke the ruling alliance and even several MPs of the Khan party had changed loyalties and joined hands with the opposition

Imran Khan and his minister accused the opposition of buying the loyalties of their MPs and allies and paid over 220 million [$1.19 million] to every member of parliament.

"This plan was made in Washington and US was behind the regime change in Pakistan, Khan said on Friday.

On Sunday night massive protest rallies were held across the country against the US's alleged interference in Pakistan's internal affairs and ousted Khan from power because of his visit to Russia.
