cholera outbreak: Pakistan army top commander in Balochistan visits Dera Bugti affected areas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan army's top commander in southwestern Balochistan province on Tuesday visited the Dera Bugti area where several people died due to a cholera outbreak.

In a statement, issued by the Pakistan army media wing, ISPR, said that Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali, Commander Quetta Corps visited Cholera affected areas in Pir Koh, Dera Bugti today.

Corps Commander was given a detailed update on relief activities of FC Balochistan in aid of civil power.

"Corps Commander also met local people and assured them army’s all-out support to bring them comfort and supply of necessary assistance including water, establishment of medical facilities and provision of medicines for treatment of cholera. Doctors and paramedics are busy in providing medical care to cholera affected people," said ISPR in its statement.

On Monday, Pakistan military launched a relief and assistance operation in Dera Bugti where FC Balochistan had arrived in the area to assist the civil administration in handling the spread of Cholera in Pir Koh, Dera Bugti.

The military also dug water browsers to supply water for the local population as locals are facing a shortage of clean drinking water.

While the medical camp was also established for people affected with Cholera.

“Doctors/nurses and paramedics are treating disease-affected people. Medical lab being established and necessary medicine being provided” said in an official statement.

So far six people have died while hundreds of others affected by the cholera outbreak in the area…
