ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Azerbaijan government on Tuesday has announced to resume e-visa for Pakistani national after months long suspension because of COVID-19 restrictions.

"Happy to announce that #Azerbaijan 🇦🇿is open to brotherly #Pakistan 🇵🇰 now. E-visa system is applicable to all. Welcome to Azerbaijan!." Khazar Farhadov, Azerbaijan ambassador to Pakistan tweeted.

The announcement widely welcomed across the country and many people called the decision as good step.

"Now that's the news we have been patiently waiting for, Thank you ," Ahsan Hamid Durrani wrote on twitter.

Earlier, Pakistan ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee said that both countries are also preparing to launch direct flights in coming months.

"We hope that in the next couple of months, we will be able to resume and start direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. This will be a big breakthrough in terms of bringing the peoples of two countries closer," Pakistani envoy told the local News.Az.

He added that direct flights between the two countries will also reduce the flight time to three to four hours and people from both countries would be able to travel their friends in Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan will also celebrate their 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year in June.
